One of the cleverest religious jokes I’ve ever heard:
“Rabbi,” cried the little Jew, “a terrible thing has happened. My son wants to marry a Gentile girl.”
“Your son!” replied the Rabbi. “Look at me and my son. Here I am, the leader of the community. Everyone looks up to me as an example, and looks to my family. And my son—he not only wants to marry a Gentile girl, he also wants to be baptized.”
After a silence, the little Jew said, “Everyone comes to you with their problems, but what do you do when you have such a terrible problem? To whom do you turn?”
“What can I do? I turn to God.”
“And? What did God tell you?”
God said to me, “Your son! . . . Look at mine!”
